  1. Preparation: Start by peeling and thoroughly washing fresh cassava roots. Cut them into smaller pieces for easier processing. Next, boil the cassava pieces in a large pot of water until they become tender. This usually takes around 20-30 minutes, but the cooking time may vary depending on the freshness and size of the cassava roots.
  2. Draining and Grinding: Once the cassava is cooked, drain the water and let the boiled cassava cool down. You can use a food processor, blender, or a traditional mortar and pestle to grind the cassava into a smooth paste. The paste should be thick and sticky in consistency.
  3. Forming the Lafun: After grinding, take small portions of the cassava paste and shape them into balls or cylindrical portions. You can wet your hands slightly to prevent the dough from sticking too much. Flatten the balls or portions slightly to resemble the desired thickness of your lafun.
  4. Cooking the Lafun: To cook the lafun, you can either steam it or boil it in water. If steaming, place the shaped lafun portions in a steamer basket over boiling water and cover with a lid.
